Standard Response Protocol
North Park Elementary
District Standard Response Protocol
Providing a safe learning environment for students is our number one priority. A critical ingredient in the safe school recipe is the classroom response to an incident at school. Weather events, fire, accidents, intruders, and other threats to student safety are scenarios that are planned and trained for by students, teachers, staff, and administration.
Our school is expanding the safety program to include the Standard Response Protocol (SRP). The SRP is based on these four actions. Lockout, Lockdown, Evacuate, and Shelter. In the event of an emergency, the action and appropriate directions will be called on the public address system.
- Lockout – “Secure the Perimeter”
- Lockdown – “Locks, Lights, and Out of Sight”
- Evacuate – “To the Announced Location”
- Shelter – “Using Announced Type and Method”
Our staff has been trained in these procedures and will be training our students in the next few weeks. The school will be holding practice drills over the course of the year. We want the students to be prepared but not worried. We appreciate your help as we put these safety protocols in place.
