Community Council Meeting Notes - Nov. 4, 2013

Meeting began at 4:05pm

Discussed:

• Nov. 25^th meeting has been cancelled.
  • Next meeting dates are Jan. 27^th, March 24^th, April 21^st and May 12^th.
  • School Land Trust Plan
    • There is an approx. $8000 increase due to speculated student count (Aug.) and actual student count (Oct.). Increase of 46 students.
    • Proposed plan for extra funds: salaries for professional development, increase build up of reading, math and science libraries.
    • Proposal vote 100% to the affirmative.
  • Community Council meeting at the district office Nov. 5^th (tomorrow).
    • David Tanner will attend.
  • Reading Proficiency Plan report discussed.
    • A copy of the report will be forwarded to council members.
    • State goal: by 2020 all school students will be 90% proficient readers by 3^rd grade.
    • Reported progress made must be sustained and up to 1-2% or higher proficiency gained yearly, depending on goal.
  • Earning for Education
    • Assignment given to council members to watch 6 minute video on Trustlands web site or search “earning for education trustlands” on YouTube.
  • Business items discussed.
    • Confirm attendance for tomorrow’s meeting at the district office.
    • All council members’ names and contact info are on the school web site.
