North Park Elementary Robotics Program

Informational Meeting September 18, 2019 in Mr. Spencer’s Classroom
Meeting Time – 1:15 PM in Mr. Spencer’s Classroom (Upstairs in the pod by the library)
Open to any student in grades 4th – 6th that is interested in participating.
Parents are welcome to attend this first meeting.

We are opening the VEX experience to 4th 5th and 6th grade students only, and we will have 4 - four person teams this year. Students who are interested in participating should attend this meeting.

GUIDELINES FOR THE PROGRAM:

  • Meetings will be held after school each Wednesday starting September 18, 2019. More meetings may be scheduled as needed. We will meet 1:15-2:00 pm in Mr. Spencer’s room. Parents will be responsible for providing transportation after the VEX Robotics meetings on Wednesdays.
  • VEX IQ Challenge competitions will be held on several Saturdays throughout the school year 2019-2020. All participants are required to attend. State competition is scheduled for February 15, 2020.To be a part of robotics you will need to be fully committed. Please make arrangements with your team if you need to miss a meeting. If a student misses three VEX meetings, he/she may be replaced.
  • Teamwork and sportsmanship are essential in this program.
  •  A $20 donation is requested to help pay for competition fees, registration, and a team shirt. Additional donations are appreciated.
  • Each 4 person team will be responsible for building and programming a robot and taking care of their own supplies, including a robotics kit, as well as additional pieces that have been purchased by the school. The equipment is expensive, and students are expected to keep everything in excellent condition and use the supplies appropriately.
